Karma yoga as the terms literally states is defined as yoga during performing actions. So, does it mean that while we do any action should we do any asana as most of us interpret yoga as limited to asanas only.  So, what does it mean then? If we truly understand the meaning of yoga as mental connectivity with God and in rememberance of god. So, karma yoga is classified as doing actions while in remembrance of God. Real Karma yoga exists when you exist in your own Self consciousness and know the truth of god, who He is, what His duties, where He lives and when He comes. Remembrance of the person occurs only in true sense, when you know fully about the person completely. Similarly, the remembrance of the God works only when you know the God. The eligibility of Karma yoga is the yogi should have saakshi Bhava (Witness consciousness while doing karma) and works like a trustee and only then there is persistent remembrance of God. Then there happens two things - yoga kaushlam karmeshu (Gita) - perfection of karma / actions (when you do with being in the consciousness of trustee as your duty, without any attachment of fruits of actions) and remembrance of God will burn your vikarma (fruits of wrong doings)/ past karma bondages. So, you should become free from bondage of past karmas and present karmas because of your non-attachment and being in trustee consciousness while doing actions.  So, this yoga makes you free from bondage of karmas (sanchit and prarabdh).
