During kapalbhati, you just need to focus on exhalations using abdominal muscles. The action plan may be like this:
(i) First Take Deep breath in and Exhale fully - 3 Times.
(ii) Take Deep Breath in and then start exhalation strokes using abdominal muscles; initially the strokes may be upto 25-30 and later after good pracitce, the number of strokes may be increased to 60 and even beyond. This is one cycle.
(iii) Then resume first step.
(iv) Resume second step. This is second cycle.

Thus, you can do 4-5 cycles initially. However, you need to check with your physician or yoga therapist if you suffer from hypertension (high blood pressure) or cardiovascular or respiratory disorders.

Just follow like this: Sit comfortably in padmasana or sukhasana with an straightened spine or back. Take few deep breaths. Now, exhale forcibly using abdominal muscles. Inbale passively by relaxing the abdominal muscles. Repeat as quickly as possible starting with 60 strokes per minute and increasing gradually upto 120 per minute.  There is no holding of breath. The rapid active exhalations with passive effortless inhalations are accomplished by flapping movements of the abdomen. At the end of the minute, you will feel an automatic suspension of breath causing deep silence of mind. Be in this state for some time.

This exercise washes out the carbondioxide from the blood and therefore activates the brain cells as well as clears the respiratory passages due to forceful breathing. Since the abdomen is used to exhale forcibly, abdominal organs are also stimulated.
