Dear Doctor, I have been confronted with cases of stammering, most of the same are not due to any anatomical or physiological defects rather they are due to lack of their moral strength.  Accordingly, I have been suggesting to go through the techniques as are prescribed in personality development courses or in literature books, you can see the replies relevant to such cases in my replies to earlier questions placed to me.

To become over-conscious while interacting with strangers and even in interviews, i think, it is obvious to get a little bit heart pump especially, when there is a situation where your talents / calibers/performance are being measured/ judged.

I think it is not necessary for you to let you know that when the speed of thoughts and vocal speed does not match, stammering is produced.  So, I would suggest you to go through some yoga techniques /meditation /progressive relaxation techniques that can teach you to relax/calm your mind. In the same line, go through some personality development courses or read some literatures, literatures (books and others on yoga/ personality development / meditation, etc.) makes person mature and practical and let him rid of illusions, etc.

  • Padmasana (with gyan mudra)
  • Simhasana
  • Naadi-shodhana pranayama
  • Suryabedi pranayama (to be practiced in cold season only)
  • Bhastrika pranayama
  • Progressive relaxation (or shavasana)

Also, autosuggestions are effective to let you improve yourself in your profession as well as this would also let your patients get better results.

In summary, you may try the following:

(i) First four breathing exercises of Suksham Vyayama as designed by Swami Dhirender Brahmachaari.
(ii) Surya Namaskar
(iii) Simhasana (with tongue enlengthened but not with over strain)
(iv) Pranayama - Bhastrika, Naadi-shodhana (presuming that you do not have any respiratory problem; High B.P or any other circulatory problem)
(v) Meditation / Progressive Relaxation
(vi) Practice to slow and focus your breath so as to control your thoughts.
(vi) Positive Attitude to accept and love yourself with gratitutde and dignity.

I hope that the above points may give you a direction to workout on your problem.  If you feel the clarifications in respect of yoga therapy on the subject, you may feel free to write to me at either this platform.
