Now-a-days, yoga has been gaining attention as a potential treatment for epilepsy. Research has shown that yoga can reduce seizure frequency and intensity in people with epilepsy. Yoga can help people with epilepsy relax, reduce stress, and improve overall quality of life. Yoga can also help people with epilepsy to better manage their condition, helping them to become more independent and in control of their lives. Yoga can also help reduce the risk of developing depression and anxiety, which are common in people with epilepsy. Yoga can be an effective way to help manage epilepsy, and it is a safe and cost-effective form of treatment. One type of yoga that has been found to be beneficial for epilepsy is Kapalbhati, a type of pranayama (breathing exercise). Kapalbhati helps to improve oxygen levels in the body, which can help reduce seizures. Additionally, it can help reduce stress and anxiety, which can be triggers for seizures. Kapalbhati is also considered one of the Shatkarmas.  It should not be practiced without consultation with Yoga Therapist and your Doctor.

Another Shatkarma, i.e. Jala neti can help in epilepsy. It is performed as routinely as using a toothbrush. Jala neti is performed daily usually the first thing in the morning with other cleansing practices.  When dealing with problem of congestion it can be performed upto to 4 times a day and has been shown up to speed up the healing process for common colds. In jala neti, the warm salty water flow through one side of the nasal cavity and out the other nostril. It is helpful to remove all dirt and bacteria filled mucous from within the nose. Jala neti is also helpful for headaches, depression and general mental tension.  Other types of yoga that may be beneficial for epilepsy include Hatha yoga, which focuses on postures and breathing, and meditation, which can help to reduce stress and improve focus.
