I just wanted to know if I can keep my body clean and detoxified in an easier way. Please explain.

Though there are shatkarmas in Yoga which are six cleansing actions meant to detoxify the body to make it healthy – kapalbhati, trataka, kunjal, neti, nauli and basti.  We can take in other way which we can do in easy and with less effort.  Just like every factory has manufacturing waste during or after production, similarly our body generates metabolic wastes after the food is assimilated for absorption into the blood to nourish trillions of cells of the body. Cellular metabolic waste are generated after the food is consumed in seven components of the food, out of the body through main excretory channels  - rectum (faecal matter after the unabsorbed food is accumulated from the large intestine), kidney (urine after the blood is purified from waste metabolic or excess in the blood), sweat glands (skin pores – perspiration), nostrils (mucous accumulated out of respiration filtering dirt particles), eyes (lachrymal glands), tongue (accumulates of layers on the tongue to be cleared). 

We just need to help these organs to perform excretory & eliminative functions properly: 

1.       Help rectum and large intestine using enema once a month.  You can use sulabh enema also but only after consultation with your physician or get enema in some naturopathy center.

2.       Drink good amount of water every day to help kidneys.

3.       Take steam bath atleast once a month to improve respiratory and excretory function of the skin.

4.       As well, you can use dry friction – rub your body parts with dry towel from foot through the body to face every day before taking bath.

5.       Use jalaneti / sutra neti for nostrils once a week.  Better to do kapalbhati every day as per your capacity.

6.       Do tratak once a week. You can clean your tongue from root for better functioning of tonsils and oral hygiene. Oil pooling can also help for oral hygiene.

7.       To prevent the body from toxification in addition to metabolic waste, try to add raw fruits and vegetables (organic – devoid of insecticides / pesticides) as much as possible in between your meals as well as avoid processed/ junk foods and outside restaurants which are source of chemical toxins. These chemical toxins can stimulate cancer cells to grow as well as allergies.
