i m 22 years old i want stop masterbating so is  there any pranayam or  asan that help me to stop masterbating?

What I have understood is sometimes your unexpressed anger or frustration is the main source of this habit of masturbation or such fantasies as a mode of release. So, you will need to learn to express your anger in a way that should not disturb your inner environment and others and not create any further complications legally or relationship wise. I suggest you to go for catharsis using dynamic meditation or kapalbhati or bhastrika (if your body allows) and eat yogic sattvic diet and make a company of creative people so that you can use your such repressed energy in doing some creative work. Please make sure only two things - expression of repressed emotions and use of creative energy (have some target to achieve in your life).

You have become conditioned to this mind pattern of masturbation. This pattern is activated generally in two situations:

  1. Whenever you are lying idle or dissatisfied, this mind pattern is activated to deviate and search for some pleasure. So, manage your time in only those actions that give you some satisfaction and keep you busy and packed. Believe you will enjoy your life more than that in lusty things.
  2. Stress or distraction activates this pattern. I know that you wish to make new habits that keep you rid of this masturbation. Believe me whenever you fall in any stressful situation, this old habit emerges and new habits evaporate at that time, appear all in vain. So, better to develop habit of happiness first and then later develop new ones. You need to break this pattern as soon as you become aware of this pattern. Go through the book - Happiness Unlimited

If you feel that this habit of lust is interfering with your routine jobs, there is a solution but only for that moment. When your mind is filled with only thoughts of lust, I would suggest first  step of Osho's dynamic meditation - violent breathing - to break this pattern. This is an instant way to get rid of habit of masturbation as soon as it pops up in the mind.  I have explained it below.  Basically, this sort of breathing is somewhat similar to bhastrika pranayama - breathing with violent exhalation. As you complete this exercise, this habitual pattern of masturbation evaporates and you become normal again.

1. Mind Pattern Change

Instant way to stop compulsion for masturbation - 10 minutes Required. Do not Ignore Precautions.

  1. Lie down on your back and loose your body (lying position is easier to breathe fast).
  2. If it is not possible to lie, just be in that position and breath chaotically through the nose. Breathe intensely, breathe deep, breathe fast, without rhythm, with no pattern – and concentrate always on the exhalation. The body should take care of the inhalation. The breath should move deeply into the lungs. Do this as fast and as hard as you possibly can until you literally become the breathing. Use your natural body movements to help you to build up your energy. Feel it building up. Do this for 5 minutes.
  3. Get up after this practice is over and concentrate on some important work immediately. Do not continue to lying idle.

As and when you feel to masturbate, do the above exercise. You will notice change in chemistry of your body.

You can also complement the above practice with the following practice of Uddiyana bandha for more benefits:

  1. Sit on the ground in any comfortable posture.
  2. Exhale completely yourself of the lungs.
  3. Pull up the abdominal muscles as long as you can
  4. Slowly and slowly inhale the air into the lungs.

Do this round 2-3 times.

You feel that your mind and body are not any more in conflict for masturbation.

Precautions: High blood pressure, cardiac patients should never do, slipped disc and severe backpain should also avoid the above techniques. If your stomach is full, you should be restricted. Well, always follow the principle of yogic diet - fill your stomach with 50% solid food, 25% water and 25% empty stomach.

But this is only momentarily solution. If you need to permanently cure this habit, you will need to set importants goals/ targets of your life and working in that direction will sublimate the feelings of lust or masterbation.

2. Power of Prayer

If you are inclined spiritually, you can use the following exercise to sublimate the sexual instinct as well as increase the power of concentration. Even Lord Buddha had attained the perfect peace using this exercise:

  1. Keep your body erect either standing or sitting
  2. Fold your hands with the thumbs on the throat - cavity (sternal notch)
  3. Press the forearms pressed against the chest. Keep pressed the forearms until you are successful in concentrating your mind on your deity.

This will help you win over your worldly passions. This is a basic method of prayer. But the scientific reason is that this exercise has effect on the manovaha nerve. This is Yogic Prayer.

3. What Mahatma Gandhi says in relation to Celibacy

Mahatma Gandhi in his book "The Law of Continence : Brahmacharya" has written that "I found that that complete control of the palate made the observance  of continence very easy, ..... I saw that the brahmacharis food should be limited, simple, spice-less, and, if possible, uncooked. Fasting is useful, when mind co-operates with starving body, that is to say, when it cultivates distaste for the objects that are denied to the body. Mind is at the root of all sensuality. Fasting therefore, has a limited use, for a fasting man may continue to be swayed by passion." Mahatma Gandhi basically suggests to adopt satvic diet to control over the lust. Satvic diet is very simple diet which is devoid of spices and contains whole grains and vegetables, preferably with not too sweet and not too salty, just moderately tasteful. Obviously, the diet excludes non-vegetarian and restricts the usage of alcohol and beverage. This keeps the mind peaceful and under control. If the mind is kept control and all the senses are easily controlled. 4. Action Points to counter this compulsion:

  1. Set important targets & manage your time so that you can use the sexual energy towards fulfillment of your targets.
  2. Bhastrika Pranayama for instant relief from compulsion of masturbation.
  3. Regular prayers using the above technique.
  4. Avoid Non-vegetarian foods and junk foods, and adopt sattvic diet.
  5. Learn meditation to control your thoughts.

To preserve your sexual energy and use in awakening spirituality.  Try to devote atleast15 minutes to workout by yogasanas and /or aerobics.

  • Perform Moolabandha, uddiyana bandha, and Jalandhara Bandha and all the three bandhas as mahabandha, each as per your capacity- donot over strain. This will help you to stop masterbating.
  • Practice Nauli as per your capacity, every day. This will help you getting rid of habit of masterbation. You would not be able to do nauli in the first instance. You will need to do certain abdominal exercises to master nauli.
  • Try brahmacharyasana for 5 minutes as well as do naadi shodhana pranayama for 5 minutes every day.
  • Under Cleansing practices, try vamandhauti or kunjal and jala-neti. Certain toxins in our body also compel to indulge in lustful actions. So, the more body is pure, the mind is also pure.
  1. Maintain your company of people bearing good and pure thoughts.
  2. Join some self help group or satsang.
  3. Collect your books of literature to develop your good thoughts and positive thoughts.
  4. Avoid stress, junk /processed foods, onions, non-vegetarian food.

16 steps to break the habit of masturbation

Reading this article is a welcome step to break the addictive habit and stop victimization and avoid guilt arising out of this act.

Mechanics of Habit Formation

Let’s understand the mechanism. Our most of the actions are responses to the stimuli for sake of pleasure or avoid pain. Stimulus -> Response -> Achievement of Pleasure or Avoidance of Pain.  In fact, our actions are focused to achieve pleasure or avoid pain. 

Initially, we have freedom to choose our response to the sexual stimulus.  Every time, before response, we have thinking process to analyse whether to do or not. When we repeatedly produce such responses, they become habit and on every stimulus, same response are produced bypassing the thought process and therefore, we are not able to control our responses and we become victim of such harmful habits.

Response to sexual stimuli has to achieve pleasure. So, either we need to fix targets which give us pleasure greater than sexual response or attach some pain to this sexual act so that you can avoid it.  The only thing you can do is to understand the damages/ losses associated with this habit.

1.Check Your Pattern of Compulsive Desire

Observe the time as and when you are bound to seek sexual pleasure.  Most probably, it is the time when you are either alone. It is not your physical loneliness, or simply alone in your house. Your mental emptiness is crucial moment to drag you into such habit of masturbation. So, ensure that you are always busy or preoccupied with some important tasks or assignments that are very much important and has deadlines so you should be automatically bound to work on those tasks and easily avoid the habit of masturbation.

2. Avoid the Sources of Stimulations

Avoid books, movies or talks with your friends, having sexual stimulations etc. Replace with some business oriented books, personal development, skill development books.  People generally become addicted to masturbating acts because of wasteful thoughts and negative thoughts. So keep your mind extremely busy with your tasks as well as positive thoughts. Avoid whatsapp jokes, facebook posts which stimulates you to sexual act.

3. Join Fitness Regime

Do some physical exercises. Even join gym. You should also add yogic exercises to your exercise regime. Physical and yogic exercise help body release endorphins which keeps you mentally happy.

4. Focus on Diet

Leave junk foods or processed foods as the chemicals / preservatives used in these foods chemically induce you (hormonal changes which influence the mind) to attempt such masturbation acts. Also minimize cold drinks, beverages, etc.

5. Act of Happiness

Avoid depression or frustration or acts that cause such feelings.  Because during such feelings, you are prone to drag into attempting masturbation.  Do those things that make you happy and give sense of achievements, even those achievements are small, but these are enough to keep you satisfied.

6. Gratitude works Wonder.

Keep gratitude journal. 7. Autosuggestion - Power of Mind

You will need to practice auto-suggestion. Do not be afraid. You need to just practice few minutes before sleeping at night and after waking up in the morning.  At night, just with full feelings say to yourself the following repeatedly until you sleep. In the morning, with full feeling repeat to yourself with full intention and feeling, the following.  This should be done first for 28 days and then you can let me know thereafter, I will suggest you next autosuggestion.

I feel energetic and happy when I abstain from masturbation. I feel so much better… without masturbation… so much healthier… so much happier… I find that each and every day I feel more attractive, more confident, more joyful, stronger, more able to form lasting relationships with other people. As my relationships improve, I notice an extra benefit. My energy level increases dramatically. This becomes a cycle of progress with my energy level increasing, while my relationships are becoming easier and more natural.I feel better and better every day.

You can even record your sound with these autosuggestions in your sound and make it alarm in your mobile phone and even play this recording every morning and every night.

8. Bach Flower Therapy

Take the help of bach flower therapy. You can use cherry plum and crab tree. These does not have any negative side effect. But it can cost you money. Even you can consult homoeopath or bach flower therapist.  This will help you to channelize your thoughts.

9.Gem Therapy

Though little effects, you can also take the help of pearl gem to be worn on right hand’s little finger.

10. Learn Meditation & Relaxation to control your body and mind.

You can practice relaxation and meditation. During relaxation, you can scan your body from toes of the feet to head through all the parts of body in between.  In meditation, try to increase your soul consciousness. The more you are conscious of body, the more you will be dragged into doing sexual attempts. You can also take the help of anchoring or linking. This method is used autogenic training.

11. Social Service and Engagements

Join some social service so that you can get good wishes of the people whom you help and with the energy of their wishes, you can stand up to control your mind.  Help people more and more, you will live life fully.

12. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Change your cognition towards the attempt of masturbation. Now-a-days, marketers have spread this act as normal one. The real picture is opposite, it is victimizing the people and ripping them of their morals and mental power as well as making them full of guilt.  Too much comes with a physical and psychological cost.  Any addictive behavior cannot be normal, if you are not able to perform routine work or if it is interfering with your normal functioning, then it means that this habit is abnormal.  This is not abnormal mentally but also physically.  Your background thoughts are important factors to drag you to this habit or keep you away from this act of masturbation.

13.Be Creative

Choose some constructive work, the more you are constructive, the more your mind is calm and under control.  This keeps you more positive, and the more positive, the more balanced your mind is. You can also learn some new real life skills, etc. Even psychology course will be better. You can join courses from IGNOU. There are various courses available from certificate courses to degree courses which can be completed at your convenience. There are video /online courses at Udemy that are very cheaper that any one can complete at own comfort and once purchased, it remains forever in the account. You can also use the Free online courses at edx.org.

14. Live and Love Nature

Go to some natural place. These places will heal you and help you to prevent from negative electromagnetic effects of computers, gadgets, TV , etc. of technology that have become parts of office and home.

15. Use Positive Vibrations

Drink charged water. Before drinking, always charge it with your thoughts of positivity and purity. This means programming water to have particular qualities to enhance personal development and get rid of negative habits.  You can charge by seeing the drinks (not alcohol ) / water and visualizing that you are radiating vibrations of purity and power from your eyes. Do this for 5 seconds and then drink slowly. This will bring positive changes in your body and mind in a week.

16. Detoxification

Detoxify your body. Eat plenty of fruits and water, within your financial capacity.  Toxins in the body influence the mind badly.
