Smarana Sakti Vikasaka is one of first breathing exercises of Sukshama Vyayama. Sukshama Vyayama are set of 48 different exercises covering benefits to almost all aspects of the body. This breathing exercise helps in development of the memory. During this exercise, you have to focus your eyes on a spot of 5 feet from toes and then inhale and exhale rapidly and vigorously through the nostrils with the bellows method. Under this method, one takes deep and rapid breathing with a sharp and quick intkae and outlet of breath, just a pair of bellows makes when they work. Simultaneously, concentrate on the Brahma-randhra i.e. A suture or aperture in the crown of the head.

The brahmarandhra is a term used in Hinduism and yoga, which refers to the opening or gateway to the cosmic consciousness, also known as the crown chakra. It is believed to be located at the top of the head, in the center of the skull. To locate the brahmarandhra, imagine a line running from the center of your eyebrows to the back of your head. Another line would run from the top of your ears to the center of the skull. Where these two lines meet is the approximate location of the brahmarandhra.
This breathing involves two things – fast breathing with concentrate on Brahma randhra. Visualize & feel that your breath goes to the Brahma randhra of the head during breathing, as if oxygen is reaching the brain cells of that part of the brain. In the beginning, you may breath in such a way 25 times or within your capacity (Never to practice beyond your capacity). Thereafter, you may increase the number of times, as per your capacity, in consultation with qualified yoga instructor.
Beginners may exercise 25 times, which can be increased after weeks of persistent practice. This exercise is useful for all those whose work causes mental strain and nervous exhaustion
If you suffer from Vertigo and Cardiac / High Blood Pressure, please do not do this exercise. In fact, any person should do this exercise only under the guidance of qualified yoga instructor.
