Such conditions usually arises when some neti water remains in the nostrils and is not completely eliminated. Therefore, it is best to do kapalbhati after the jalaneti. In this case, there is no need to do kapalbhati in any meditative posture. It should be done in standing - partially forward bend - forcefully blowing out the air. Thus, the remaining water in the nostrils is eliminated. You should continue until you ensure that the nostrils are dried. There is a litmus test to check this. Just blow out on the back of your palms and see if you feel any droplets in the air that come on the palm. If no droplet is felt, then you have completely eliminated the water. If there is pain in the ear, you can slightly do hot fomentation for a short time around the area, else if the pain persists, consult your ENT physician.
